Our Process
Whether you’re doing an entire home remodeling or just a bathroom renovation in Chicago, the process begins with a bid. A complete plan with specifications lets us to create a line item bid where every item on your plan is accounted for. A precise home remodeling plan ensures that you get what you paid for and it helps avoid misunderstandings. Home renovation plans can be developed for our clients from Habitar Design and are recommended to achieve optimal results.
But not every one of our customers starts with a plan for their home renovation in Chicago. Many of our home improvement clients who want a bathroom or kitchen remodel on a design-build basis. This means we'll do your kitcen or bathroom renovation in Chicago on a budget and let you make selections that fit within a budget. The budget will include a fixed number of hours for you to work with a designer.
The Contract and Change Orders
Specifications for your home renovation in Chicago are developed will be listed in your contract and serve as a reference so you know exactly what to expect. Should you decide during the course of a home renovation that they want additional home improvements, a formal change order may be created to define the home improvement or it may be defined with an exchange of e-mails. Change orders become an addendum to the original contract and create a record of what we as home renovators and our clients agree to. Finally, our contracts have small print which govern such issues and clean up and bill payment. We encourage our customers to read them. They’re straight forward and make sense and help our clients better understand what to expect. All provisions in the fine print apply equally to the change orders.
Deposit and Start Date
When the contract is signed and home renovation specifics are agreed to, we’ll take a deposit and try to give you an approximate start date. Many times we have to wait for kitchen cabinetry to be completed when we're not making custom kitchen cabentry in our Chicago woodshop. The same applies to materials such as tile and custom vanities that need to be delivered to Chicago. We do our best to estimate start dates but our highest priority is to complete the work we begin. We understand a kitchen remodel or bathroom remodel in Chicago can be very stressful and we do our best to minimize our impact.
A Good Plan
A good plan for a home improvement whether it’s building a fireplace mantel, a custom entertainement center built-in, or renovating a bathroom considers how to contain dust, where to store debris, and how to allow our clients necessary access to those parts of the house they need to get to. We work these details out just before construction.
Final Steps and Warrantee
When the home renovation is complete, it’s time for the walk through. This is an opportunity for our clients to go through the home remodel carefully to make sure everything is done as decided. No matter how hard we try, sometimes there are items that are not exactly as you want them. We make a list and in the next few days to weeks we complete the listed items. Our goal from beginning to end it to make you happy so you can recommend us to friends and family without reservation. When the items are done, the job is complete but that doesn’t mean we’re gone. All our work is guaranteed for one year parts and labor and we hope to be your builder for as many future home renovation or home construction projects you undertake.
